This project stretches over 40 miles along the I405 from Long Beach and the I605 Freeway up through Los Angeles to the I5 in Sylmar. This project will upgrade the existing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) communications infrastructure improving Caltrans’ ability to monitor and control traffic flows. The project consists of upgrading the existing ITS communications infrastructure for the Traffic Monitoring Stations, the CCTV systems, the Highway Advisory Radio Systems and the Ramp Metering systems replacing all of the copper infrastructure with state of the art fiber optic backbone cable and electronic communications equipment.
